bookWe are pleased to announce that the second volume of Barkai's "The Rabbinate and Community in a Changing World" is in advanced stages of publication and will soon be available.

The chapters in the book were written by the Barkai rabbis of Cohort 2. One part of the book deals with general issues of the rabbinate and community and the second part deals with people with special needs. The social, communal and halachic issues surrounding special needs are many and varied. The rabbis worked very hard to deal with these issues sensitively and out of a strong desire to make their synagogues and communities more accessible combined with a total loyalty to Jewish law.

We believe that this book, like the previous volume, will take an important place on the bookshelf of people who are involved with the rabbinate and communities.

The Barkai Center for Practical Rabbinics aims to improve the fabric of Israeli society by intensively training Israeli rabbis in all aspects of communal rabbinics so that they can lead their communities to a more meaningful connection with Judaism and act as a unifying force in Israeli society.
